Job description:

Construction Manager

Responsible for project execution, ensuring modification performance regarding the delivery of work, assuring achievement of the plan in terms of quality, time and budget in compliance with the Company’s HSSE and technical standards in an efficient and effective manner.

Key Duties:

  • Accountable for the overall contract construction strategy; including safety, planning, cost and delivery of all field works on the Contract
  • Accountable for supervising, organising and co-ordinating head office, onshore and offshore construction and commissioning teams to provide adequate support in accordance with the Contract.
  • Responsible for ensuring full construction integration to project delivery by encouraging regular engineering, procurement and construction interface meetings
  • Ensure work pack and material delivery aligns with construction mobilisation
  • Provide construction expertise during FEED, Detail Design, in the form of constructability reviews, scope minimisation and ensuring safest and most efficient construction methods adopted
  • Actively engages with the EPMS organisation to ensure seamless delivery: Onshore sites & Offshore Sites
  • Engages with individual project teams to ensure correct level and sequence of Work Breakdown Structure adopted at project kick off.
  • Adhere to and promote WGPSN policies and procedures to Construction teams at all time
  • Responsible for construction and commissioning resource management across all sites to meet projects needs
  • Provides consistent, visible leadership to ensure strong individual and team motivation and productivity
  • Responsible for the development of personnel within team and ensure competencies are up to date
  • Ensures full construction integration in project delivery by actively engaging engineering and procurement
  • Actively works with project managers to ensure business delivers projects in line with commitments
  • Promote ongoing constructability input into project design from early detail design to work pack issue to ensure latest technologies utilised
  • Embrace and contribute to the improvement of current work methods and processes
  • Ensures full construction integration in project delivery by actively engaging engineering and procurement
  • Actively works with project managers to ensure business delivers projects in line with commitments
  • Aligns construction organisation to WGPSN global practices
  • Responsible for accurate construction planning / scheduling and ensuring integration with overall project schedules.
  • Responsible for accurate construction reporting including time writing by trade personnel
  • Responsible for robust construction estimates, ensuring accurate man hour durations

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in construction management / supervision and general project engineering in oil and gas industry.
  • Outstanding team leader demonstrating focus, enthusiasm, sensitivity, mentoring and coaching qualities
  • Proven experience in the management of office, onshore and offshore site construction and commissioning teams
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to influence and challenge others to ensure project delivery aligned with the contract organization and WGPSN policies and procedures
  • Able to manage 70-100 construction personnel covering professional, trade and direct sub-contractors.
  • Demonstrates effective delegation and team development with a focus on productivity and project integration.
  • Demonstrates the ability to manage uncertainty to achieve a balance in the competing demands of the business.
  • Work behaviours enhance the Company’s reputation.
  • Actively develops relationships with customers and WGPSN entities via regular contact and involvement. Demonstrates ability to develop long and short term service relationships that are cost efficient.
  • Ensures that the construction team is operating within the WGPSN processes by conducting regular audits, reviews and compliance audits within projects.
  • Demonstrates sound, fact-based decision making, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, clients and contractors to help teams achieve goals.
  • Able to understand changing trends and developments within Industrial Relations and communicates their impact to the business.
