Job Summary

Responsible for managing time, cost and quality in the execution of mechanical, electrical and plumbing installation works on assigned projects,  while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plans and coordinates the sequence of MEP activities, resources, deadlines, job schedules and deliverables
  • Plans and coordinates all aspects of MEP installation and ensures common understanding of the required deliverables and standards
  • Schedules project phases and ensures equipment purchases and deliveries are done by the established deadlines
  • Develops and assigns employee work schedules and ensures adherence to performance and deadline requirements
  • Reviews and revises design team drawings
  • Develops and reviews tender documentation when needed
  • Requests quotations from subcontractors and procures equipment and materials when needed
  • Ensures that the Company, its employees, sub-contractors and operating procedures adhere to relevant legislative, regulatory and industry requirements and best practices
  • Implements necessary preventative and corrective actions to address non-compliance with contractual requirements, policies and relevant legislation
  • Liaises with the Site Supervisor to monitor progress, including worker productivity and compliance with building and safety codes
  • Conducts routine inspections of installations to ensure adherence to project specifications, drawings, safety requirements and client requests
  • Conducts regular (weekly and monthly) meetings with staff, contractors and clients to ensure clear communication and understanding of expectations as well as provide project progress updates
  • Conducts daily and weekly Toolbox and Safety meetings with all staff and contractors on site
  • Conducts electrical and mechanical repairs and servicing when needed
  • Reviews and approves subcontractors' claims and invoices as well as employees' time cards and sign-in sheets
  • Manages project expenditures, ensures that they are maintained within the established budgets and takes necessary actions to reduce cost overruns
  • Conducts routine (weekly or monthly) evaluations of the project progress against the deliverables timeline(s) established during the project planning phase and takes corrective action to ensure deadlines are adhered to as much as possible
  • Develops and submits weekly or monthly progress reports to the Managing Director, Project Manager, clients and other relevant stakeholders
  • Supports and cooperates with management in the implementation and maintenance of all aspects of the HSE Management System
  • Adheres to all HSE requirements, regulations, policies and guidelines
  • Complies with Company policies and procedures and provides relevant information to key stakeholders to promote adherence of same
  • Performs any other duties as directed by the Managing Director and/or as required to ensure timely completion of assigned projects

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Computer Literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project and AutoCAD/RIVET
  • Able to draft, read and interpret structural, MEP and Civil drawings
  • Able to manage and prioritize work deadlines effectively
  • Able to manage persons from diverse backgrounds including clearly communicating expectations, handling disciplinary issues and ensuring adherence to work requirements

Key Qualifications, Skills and Training

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical/ Civil/ Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Project Management or PMP Certification
  • Certificates in Plumbing Installation and HVAC Design would be considered an asset
  • At least four - eight(4-8) years' engineering experience that includes MEP installations
  • At least three - six (3-6) years' project management experience
  • At least five (5) years’ experience ensuring employee adherence to HSE guidelines and procedures
  • At least three - six (3-6) years' supervisory experience
  • Certification in Emergency Management and Emergency First Response would be an asset
  • Valid driver's permit
