POLYETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE (PET)

 

PLANT EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

 Job Title:

Polyethylene Terephthalate (Pet)

Plant Equipment Operator

Department:

Recycling & Material Recovery

Reports To:

Supervisor – PET Plant

Based At:

NAMDEVCO

Job Purpose:

Operates and tends to the machine that compresses and binds required materials.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

·        Ensures that each section of the plant is started in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications;

·        Operates and performs basic maintenance on all aspects of the PET wash plant, inclusive of balers, conveyors, motors, water treatment system and boiler;

·        Assists with Inventory Control;

·        Records and compiles operational data by completing and maintaining forms, logs, or reports, including start-up checklists and daily checklists in conjunction with PET Plant Supervisor;

·        Ensures that the equipment and surrounding areas of the recycling facility is kept clean at all times;

·        Ensures that proper Health and Safety guidelines are adhered to;

·        Weighs and records materials arriving or departing the facilities;

·        Separates, inspects, counts and containerize incoming waste material;

·        Develops and maintains a lubrication schedule to ensure operational efficiency of PET Plant Equipment;

·        Monitors effluent water quality by using the prescribed meters before discharging into the sewerage system;

·        Cleans tanks and filter beds, as required;

·        Instructs patrons in proper recycling techniques and facility rules/guidelines;

·        Any other related duties as assigned by Management or such persons as designated by SWMCOL.

Qualification and/or Experience (knowledge and skills required to perform the job):

Critical:

·      Certificate in Industrial Maintenance or equivalent

·      5 CXC subjects inclusive of English Language and Mathematics

·      One (1) to four (4) years experience in a similar position.

·      Experience in the usage/operation of PLC’s

·      Knowledge of Mechanics will be an asset

·      Any other suitable combination of qualification and experience

·      Positive attitude and strong work ethic

·      Ability to operate standard office equipment.

·      Good writing, analytical and problem-solving skills.

·      Excellent time management skills.
