Job Summary:

The incumbent is required to provide the manual, clerical and technical skills to receive and distribute all equipment, materials and supplies, and to maintain proper inventory levels and stock records.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1.     Undertake packing, shipping, receiving and dispatching operations in accordance with established guidelines

2.     Inspect equipment, materials and supplies for quality, counting, weighing and/or marking articles with identifying codes, figures or letters as required

3.     Plan, arrange and rotate stock for convenience of handling and prevention of deterioration and spoilage, and with consideration for safety and security

4.     Assemble, test, modify, adjust and/or repair articles carried in stock

5.     Process requisitions, fill orders and issue supplies in accordance with applicable guidelines

6.     Prepare, maintain and review inventory records and related documents, preparing reports and recommendations as required

7.     Relay data and/or information in a timely manner so as to facilitate further processing activities

8.     Communicate with suppliers and internal personnel to ensure the timely delivery of supplies

9.     Ensure that the stores environment is maintained in a clean and tidy manner, ensuring compliance with safety regulations

10.  Perform related duties as assigned

Qualification and Experience:

5 Ordinary Level passes general proficiency level I and II (including English and Mathematics) OR 3 Advanced Level passes

Certification in Stores or Inventory Management will be an asset

Specialist (5 yrs.)


Expert (7 yrs.)


·       Ability to apply standard health and safety practices in preventing injuries to self and others

·       Good knowledge of methods and practices used in storing, maintaining and issuing commodities

·       Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

·       Ability to comprehend, carry out and explain complex verbal and written instructions or information

·       Proficiency in the use of computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, email and database software

Job Requirements:

·       Awareness of the NESC’s business/environment

·       Courteous, with effective interpersonal, team and communication skills

·       Extreme accuracy in the maintenance of records

·       Continuous mental and/or visual effort for sustained periods

·       Ability to safely lift and move items, stand and walk for extended periods

·       Familiarity with various equipment, materials and supplies used in the NESC operations

·       Good organizational skills and attention to detail

·       Good interpersonal skills

Work Environment:

·       Work in offices, warehouses and storerooms, with some exposure to outdoor weather elements

Physical Demands:

·       Heavy physical exertion in moving stocks and maintaining work area

·       Significant use of arms and legs and moving of entire body for bending, lifting, walking, stooping, climbing and handling of materials

·       Ability to bend, twist, stretch or reach with entire body, arms or legs

Equipment and Protective Gear:

·       Standard Office Equipment (Photocopiers, Binding machines, Facsimile machines, Multimedia machines, Computers, Printers, Scanners)

·       Telephones and Voice mail systems

·       Fork-lift

·       Pallet-jack

·       Wheeled carts

·       Safety shoes, gloves, respirators and protective eye wear
