This position is based mainly in the workshop (but will also require site visits at times) and includes painting, sanding and finishing work and ensuring that the fabrication of products is of a high standard of quality. The Finisher is also responsible for the prevention of mistakes from shop drawings. Essential duties of the Finisher include making sure materials and tools are ready for finishing; punctual arrival at the workshop and jobsite; and producing at the highest level. The Finisher will also work on site when necessary to complete jobs in a timely manner.
This position reports to Shazaad Mohammed and/or Michael Panzine.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Sanding and finishing of work to prepare to finish.
- Quality control.
- Shop maintenance and general cleaning.
- Painting, staining and finishing work to complete.
- Operation of forklift.
OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Finisher will perform other duties as assigned by the Manager that may be deemed necessary for the effective functioning of the Department. Such duties may include, but are not limited to:-
1. 5 years experience in joinery
2. Ability to multitask well
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
The joinery shop is a fast-paced environment which requires various activities such as bending, lifting, walking, sitting, turning and repetitive motion. There are vehicles and forklifts constantly in motion and as such, the employee must be aware of this and be able to react quickly if need be to get themselves out of harm’s way. It is essential that all HSE policies and procedures are followed in an effort to create a safe and comfortable working environment for all. Therefore, activities such as bending, lifting, climbing etc. must be done in the correct manner; and employees must wear proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to ensure that any risk to self, others, or property is minimized.
