Job description:

To develop programmes and communication systems to enhance the ECA’s viability, improve brand presence and strategically position the ECA as an opinion leader in the market through management of its membership and services. As well as, to oversee all internal and external communication some of which includes: Media relations, Stakeholder relations, Lobbying and Advocacy, Focus Groups, Events Management and Coordination, Corporate Communication tools development, production of web content and management of social media platforms.

Qualifications required:


  • A post graduate qualification in Public Relations or Mass Communication
  • At least seven (7) years’ experience in a senior Public Relations & Communications position in a busy environment, with hands on experience in research writing (policy briefs, newspaper articles, fact sheets, industrial relations reports and newsletters)
  • Formulate, implement and manage an effective marketing and communications strategies to promote the organization’s image and reputation
  • Manage and develop ECA’s communication objectives on a weekly basis to facilitate the Association’s advocacy and lobbying strategies
  • Build strong relations among stakeholders and members
  • Strengthen partnerships and networks with the organization’s stakeholders, particularly government agencies, development partners, NGO’s and private sector organizations
  • Manage special events such as Chairman’s Dinner, Charity Brunch and other initiatives which builds the ECA/ESC'S brand,
  • Oversee membership officer to ensure, that targets are achieved
  • Overall responsibility for the growth in Membership
  • Assist with the development of Membership Policies and Packages                         
  • Manage ECA’s communication channels to facilitate effective stakeholder communication and engagement
  • Maintain effective media relations, establish and maintain regular contacts with media representatives to promote and advocate for the organization’s goals/activities
  • Prepare and manage the Membership and Public Relations department operational plan
  • Supervise staff in the department through conducting performance appraisals, assessing training and development needs and providing an environment for increased discussions and the free flow of ideas
  • Prepare and implement a strategic plan with objectives tied to the budget
  • Prepare press releases, speeches or related media related documents on behalf of the organization
