Position Overview

Responsible for improving the performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of operations through effective methods, processes, procedures, policies, strategies, maintenance and utilization. The Commercial & Operations Manager is responsible for the direction and leadership of all sales & site operations, working closely with the supervisors to ensure the service quality, productivity, compliance and safety.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities


  1. Improve processes and policies in support of organizational goals through formulating and implementing operational policies and procedures to maximize output and ensuring adherence to rules, regulations and procedures
  1. Prepare and manage annual Operations plan and budget through the development of new operational methods to reduce costs and improve operational efficiency
  1. Assesses and analyse business and operational risks and make recommendations to enhance business operations
  2. Conduct periodic market research and analyse the comparison with the current business operations
  3. Coach employees on best practices for managing issues and handling daily challenges
  4. Ensures compliance with legal requirements and local environmental regulations as it relates to the purchase of materials
  5. Develop and Maintain safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures


  1. Manage daily Ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal purchases (commercial, retail, dealer, light industrial customers, repair shops, demolition projects, clean-ups, etc.) in accordance with current market conditions based on pricing standards/models established by Company policy
  2. Review current Operations and develop, implement and monitor improvements making changes to increase efficiency and productivity
  3. Monitor all daily activities related to Scrap Metal Purchasing and warehouse operations
  4. Review daily transaction records including closed sales and follow-up activities
  5. Manage the coordination of shipments to suppliers and negotiating terms and conditions of contracts
  6. Manage Commercial Customer Contracts; negotiating terms and conditions and ensuring excellent customer service

Pt. Lisas and Site Operations

  1. Manage current clean up, upgrade and maintenance projects; planning daily work schedules and monitoring progress; identifying improvements or changes for greater efficiency and optimal utilization of resources and space
  2. Assess current site locations and recommend improvements ensuring the safety of staff and equipment in keeping with Legal and Statutory requirements
  1. Manage the development and implementation of an effective preventative site location, equipment and vehicle maintenance programme
  2. Manage daily activities for Booking and Batching (Concrete) and Aggregate Materials delivery to varying site locations and jobs

Education, Experience and Skill Requirements

  • Degree in Business Administration with an understanding of Maintenance Accounting, Logistics & Procurement and Customer Service with 5-7 years in an Industrial Environment
  • Knowledge of HSE Practices and OSHA Act
  • Contract negotiation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Sense of teamwork as well as independent initiative
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at once
  • Strong oral & written communication skills required.
