Position Title: Production Floor Attendant

The Production Floor Attendant is generally accountable for crushing of bottles, pelletizing of material, mixing materials for machines and maintain a clean working environment on the Production Floor. The Production Floor Attendant promotes health & safety and quality control through safe work practices and ensuring the material used is of good quality to produce finished products that are of a high-quality standard.

 Specific Accountabilities

  • Accurately weighs and mixes materials for the machines as per production schedule/batch sheet.
  • Ensures that the materials are efficiently used in accordance with established Company procedures
  • Properly Labels all materials that are in use.
  • Ensures the material in use are free of foreign matter, the correct colour and of good quality to prevent use of non-conforming or contaminated materials.
  • Ensures at all times that material bins have the correct quantity, colour and quality of material.
  • Remove, properly secure and label unused material and store in the designated holding area.
  • Assist with emptying of flash bins & grinding of materials.
  • Reports to the Production Supervisor and documents any non-conformance or other issues that will affect the operations.
  • Maintains an accurate report of the total amount of material mixed daily for each machine on each shift.
  • Removes flashing from bins and places it in relevant grinder.
  • Ensures that all non-conforming material and defective bottles are crushed and bagged/boxed for recycle into other products.
  • Ensures regrind storage is kept at a minimum by recycling material as per production requirements.
  • Reports any mechanical and/or electrical issues to the Production or Maintenance Supervisor
  • Report any non-conformance of material to the Production Supervisor or Quality Control Technician.
  • Maintains a clean work environment by removing any clutter or unwanted items from the production area. Cleaning up spills and debris in machine areas.
  • Maintains a safe working environment by complying with established company Safety & Health rules, policies and procedures.
  • Complies with all other company policies, procedures, rules and guidelines
  • Performs any other duties that are required for the effective discharge of this job

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Two (2) CXC Passes in Mathematics and English
  • Experience operating machinery will be an asset

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The Production Floor Attendant must be prepared to spend the majority of their workday on their feet, performing repetitive tasks and are expected to be able to maintain concentration over a long period of time.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands or fingers to handle or feel materials or operate objects, tools or controls, as well as reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and bend.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than one hundred pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

Production Floor Attendant works in a factory wherein large production of goods are produced. The factory has no air conditioning and may be hot, humid and dusty. The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud. Hazards such as stock stacked well overhead and machinery malfunctions may exist.

The Production Floor Attendant must be willing to work on a shift system and on weekends as well as holidays, as the company operates 24/7. Working overtime will be required during periods of high and heavy production or non-arrival of the next shift.
