COMMUNICATION: The Human Resource Manager will report directly to the CEO/Director.
- Thorough understanding of Human Resource practices and principles.
- Thorough understanding of payroll systems

- Proficient in Microsoft Suite
- Ability to participate in a team environment
AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Knowledge of the practice of Industrial Relations Law in Trinidad and Tobago
- Sound knowledge and experience in a unionized environment and collective agreement negotiations
- Knowledge of standard National Insurance and Personal Income Tax calculation.
- Sound mathematical skills.
- Ability to analyse and solve problems.
- Data entry and/or word processing skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to utilize an automated payroll system.
- Knowledge of general accounting principles, for ledger purposes.
- Ability to process computer data and to format and generate reports.
- Ability to work unsupervised
The core function of the Human Resource Manager the managing of all functions within the human resource department and includes employee acquisition, retention, performance management, performance appraisal system, employee assistance program, motivation, recognition, succession planning, leave administration, Promotions, Transfers, acting arrangements and grievance management, records management and disciplinary matters. This will also include some responsibility for ensuring policies and procedures, rules and regulations are updated and current in keeping with human resource best practice.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The incumbent will be responsible for:
Development and implementation of company policies for the acquisition, training and development, disciplinary action and termination of employees.
Ensures effective and continuous communication of all approved Human Resource Management Policies
Provides leadership and guidance in all areas of Human Resource Management to middle management staff
Provides advice on Human Resource issues to the Director and upper management
Assessment of the training needs analysis
Implementation of training programs.
Outlet visits as and when required
Identifying job vacancies within the organization
Interviewing and short-listing perspective employees’ applications for job vacancies
Maintaining effective employee relations by listening to and resolving employee complaints and disputes in keeping with company policies and rules, in alignment with the current collective bargaining agreement and good industrial relations practice
Liasing with the consultants to ensure compliance with all of the necessary requirements of the Industrial Relations Act and other Labour relations practices.
Implementation and evaluation of incentive programs, obtaining feedback from the employees and management.
Administration of the employee benefits program
Managing the monthly and weekly payroll
Maintaining current job descriptions
Assisting with the implementation of the Standard Operating Procedures program
Maintaining updated copies of the Product Manual
Ensuring the Code of Conduct and Human Resource Manual are continuously updated to be abreast of current trends
Updating staff handbook yearly as necessary
Maintaining employees contracts and ensuring current status
Responsible for the supervision of the uniform distribution and ensuring accountability for stock
Ensuring that all necessary documentation for statutory payments are prepared in a timely manner
Assisting in employee safety, industrial hygiene activities, accident prevention programs and accident compensation claims.
Review of all NIS injury and maternity forms for employees
Assist in company functions and special projects as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor of Arts in Human Resource or a related field
Certification in Industrial Relations
Any combination of relevant experience and qualification
5 – 10 years in a similar environment with at least 2 years in a senior management position
A Master’s degree in Human Reaource Management will be an asset
