This position is responsible for managing a group of Process Operators in a shift environment, and is accountable for overseeing the safe, efficient and reliable day-to-day operations of the Company’s GTL Facility, in keeping with set guidelines and procedures. Where necessary, makes recommendations and implements approved strategies to achieve sustained operational and financial long-term performance of the Facility’s operations.
Under the direction of the Production Manager, the position ensures that the Company’s plant performance and asset management is achieved through a thorough knowledge of all established work processes and procedures, conducts incident reporting and maintains sustained performance and efficiency, through optimal staff scheduling.
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, achieving 100% compliance with health and safety processes and procedures, and supporting staff development, performance management, coaching, training, whist ensuring adherence to process risk management; fulfilling the role of Incident Coordinator in the event of an emergency and providing emergency response/support as required, through direction and coordination of the actions of the emergency crew; supporting the Maintenance Programme, by assisting in the planning, prioritizing and scheduling of work; meticulously supporting the safety and reliability of the Facility, and maintaining business processes and procedures, to ensure that data required for effective planning, scheduling, reporting and analysis are captured.
Qualifications/ Experience Required
Engineering Degree from a recognised Institution or PPO/Met/EET Diploma, with 10 -12 years relevant experience in a Petrochemical environment that demonstrates the required job knowledge in a similar environment. A minimum of 5 years Supervisory experience within a Shift setting is required.
Must be able to definitively be able to demonstrate detailed knowledge of the operational and engineering aspects and design intent of all processes and equipment in a plant environment, with detailed knowledge of Process Control Systems and financial implications of Process Operations.
Proficient in fostering and promoting continuous communication between the various teams/departments, with a proven track record of training. Demonstrable ability to resolve complex operational and technical issues, including ones that require input from other disciplines using knowledge of the interrelationship of all areas of a Facility of a similar nature is required.
