Job Title: Assistant Store Supervisor

Job Type: Permanent full-time

Job description:

  • Supervise staff when required, on the day to day operations of the store
  • Prepare reports and other correspondence daily or as required in the absence of the Store Supervisor
  • Supervise and process sales transactions accurately; paying attention to detail such as item price, category and SKU, ensuring proper inventory control
  • Balance registers, cash vaults and replenish cash at registers
  • Resolve all point-of-sale, LINX and phone card machine problems
  • Perform courier duties from time to time, taking documents to the bank(s), businesses and other external clients of the Company
  • Investigate customer complaints and take appropriate action
  • Provide excellent customer service at all times; greeting customers when entering or leaving the establishment, maintaining a clean and tidy checkout area and keeping record of cash and credit transactions
  • Process sales transactions accurately; paying attention to detail such as item price, category and SKU, ensuring proper inventory control
  • Assist the store supervisor in the daily operation of the sales floor
  • Prepare daily cash reconciliation reports as required
  • Perform retail sales activities such as sales, refunds, photocopies, etc.
  • Process cash, credit and debit card transactions and special program purchases
  • Assist students, faculty, and all other customers locate books, supplies and related material
  • Maintain current knowledge of Bookstore sales and promotions, products, related courses and syllabi
  • Stock and maintain merchandise on shelves; transport merchandise to various locations.
  • Assist in pricing merchandise according to store policy
  • Accept delivered merchandise and reconcile with purchase orders; assist in packing and shipping merchandise
  • Receive and reconcile newspapers; record newspaper sales
  • Assist with training temporary workers, student assistants, etc.
  • Perform clerical duties; answer telephones and route calls when necessary
  • Any other duties as assigned from time to time

Qualifications required:

  • Certificate in CAT/ACCA or Accounts related discipline would be an asset
  • Minimum 3 CXC O’level passes, including Math and English
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ similar experience
  • Must be honest and possess strong ethical values
  • High accuracy, well-organized and detailed
  • Confidential and responsible
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; must be able to use Microsoft Excel
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexible and dependable
    • Required to stand for extended periods of time
    • Frequently required to talk and hear
    • Lifting of objects, up to 50 lbs on a regular basis
    • Perform repetitive tasks with limited breaks
