job summary:

Branford General Contracting Services is seeking a detail-oriented, thorough, and well organized procurement officer to oversee purchases and develop new contracts. In this position, you will play a key role in procuring high-quality and cost-efficient supplies for our organization. You will follow procurement procedures, maintain an updated list of current and incoming inventory, and be responsible for approving purchases.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Participate in the development of Procurement objectives, policies, programs and procedures for the acquisition of goods and services, and the disposal of goods, as required.
  • Ensure that all procurement and disposal is done in accordance with the provisions of applicable laws and the Company's approved policies and procedures.
  • To contribute to the continuous operation of the business, by proactivity and minimizing delays in the procurement of goods and services, and the disposal of goods.
  • To keep stakeholders appraised of the status of purchase and disposal requests, through effective monitoring, record keeping and reporting.
  • To actively maintain a database of Suppliers, Contractors and Service Providers, whose values are consistent with those of the Company, and to promote goodwill between Branford General Contracting Services and these third parties.
  • Estimate and establish cost parameters and budgets for purchases.
  • Create and maintain good relationships with vendors/suppliers.
  • Make professional decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain records of purchases, pricing, and other important data.
  • Review and analyze all vendors/suppliers, supply, and price options.
  • Develop plans for purchasing equipment, services, and supplies
  • Oversee storage of materials, distribution of stock to locations and organization of storage area.
  • Negotiate the best deal for pricing and supply contracts.
  • Ensure that the products and supplies are of high quality.
  • Maintain and update list of suppliers and their qualifications, delivery times, and potential future development.
  • Work with team members and Senior Manager to complete duties as needed.
  • Performs related work as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

 

·       Certificate or Diploma in Procurement/Supply Chain Management or equivalent.

·       Certificate or Advanced Certificate from the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) will be an asset.

·       A minimum of two (2) years' experience in a purchasing environment.

·       Solid knowledge and understanding of procurement processes, policy, and systems.

·       Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel).

·       Ability to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions.

·       Ability to negotiate, establish and administer Supplier contracts.

·       Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·       Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time efficiently.

·       Accurate and precise attention to detail.

·       Ability to work well with management and staff at all levels.

·       Goal-oriented, organized team player.
