
SENIOR ECONOMIC ANALYST

Applicants are hereby invited to apply for the position of Senior Economic Analyst (Non-Management Grade 7) within our Economic Research Unit.

JOB SUMMARY
The incumbent will be responsible for providing economic research, analytical support and economic forecasts. The incumbent will also be responsible for performing all duties and functions with due care, attention, confidentiality and integrity, consistent with the Group’s policies and procedures, health and safety standards and business continuity responsibilities while delivering ‘Best-In-Class’ customer service at all times.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Creates detailed economic models to assist in decision making within the Group and externally
Builds forecasting models for key economic indicators using modern and relevant techniques and apply quantitative and qualitative analytical research methodologies
Authors, reviews and authorizes technical reports, publications and research papers which analyses economic parameters and trends by examining complex analyses to produce reader-friendly reports
Undertakes research papers and projects that are policy-oriented to present at research seminars regionally and internationally
Prepares and authorizes periodic publications that are economics-related and conduct internal presentations on relevant topics to help build technical capacity with the Group
Attends and presents at internal committees such as RAPS and AMCO
Creates tools to build technical capacity within department and to improve effectiveness of output by identifying manual processes to automate
Reviews all internal reports and ensure all deadlines are met, including Board and other committee reports which require economic environmental scans
Undertakes research papers and other special projects that are policy-oriented and present at suitable domestic or regional seminars, conferences and other forums
Establishes key contacts with key officials in the public and private sectors and main working relationships in the execution of duties and represent First Citizens at external meetings
Performs all other duties, assignments and special projects as assigned by Head, Economic Research Unit
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Candidates must possess a B.Sc. Economics/ Finance
Candidates must also possess a minimum of three (3) years progressive experience in the field of Economic Research
Experience in data analysis/ statistical software or Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge
Strong analytical, report writing, presentation and communication skills
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Highly detail-oriented
Ability to work independently and in a team
Ability to write client reports and research articles for the First Citizens Group publications
Knowledge of the Group’s Operating Software Systems, Products and Services
