Job Description
The incumbent is responsible for performing research activities, policy development and writing reports to provide information that will facilitate informed decision-making in the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.

Key and Critical Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct research and planning activities for policy development and implementation, including collecting, collating and analyzing socio economic data in general and policing data in particular.
Provide source data for the development and implementation of the strategic and business plans of the TTPS.
Interprets research data for the formulation of planning policies.
Develop, review and update policies and processes to ensure continuous improvement and ongoing relevance.
Researches, prepare and present reports on crime statistics, innovations and projects to relevant Units and Divisions.
Prepare comprehensive reports for stakeholders, including formal reports to Parliament and Joint Select Committees (JSCs), ensuring accuracy, clarity and alignment with TTPS objectives.
Develop procedures to test and validate the accuracy and completeness of data collected.
Keeps abreast of regional and international trends in policing activities.
Liaise with national security agencies and external stakeholders to support effective collaboration and information exchange.
Participate in meetings, stakeholder consultations and projects as assigned.
Design and conduct surveys.
Maintain data records.

Knowledge

Knowledge of the principles, techniques and methodologies of economic research.
Sound knowledge of the principles and practices of research, policy design and planning.
Skills and Abilities

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to identify, analyze and solve complex problems and to make appropriate recommendations.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and clients.
Ability to effectively use contemporary computer software packages, including word processing, spreadsheets and internet.
Ability to use e-Government technology platforms.
Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to prepare reports.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, associates, other public service employees and the public.

Minimum Experience and Training

Training as evidenced by a recognized degree in the Social Sciences.
Extensive experience in research work.
Training in public policy and planning, design, monitoring and evaluation OR any equivalent combination of experience and training.
