NURSING SUPERVISOR (ST. ANN’S HOSPITAL)
Job Summary
The Nursing Supervisor is required to provide administrative and clinical oversight for the nursing operations of a unit/department.
Key Functions
• Utilizes clinical and managerial knowledge and skills to assess the needs of patients and staff, providing appropriate guidance, care and intervention in the management of the assigned department (or hospital during the evening and night shift).
• Oversees patient advocacy and education initiatives.
• Collaborates with Heads of Departments and other managers to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Communicates job expectations and provides performance reviews.
• Sets performance indicators for Head Nurses and other members of staff and hold them accountable in meeting goals/objectives.
• Employs strategies to increase communication and engagement and actively communicate and work with staff for the benefit of patients.
• Collaborates with Human Resources to find constructive approaches to resolving workplace issues and adherence to policies and procedures.
• Works closely with Clinical Instructors to maintain effective performance.
Minimum Requirements and Experience
• Current Registration as a Registered Nurse/Psychiatric Nurse/Midwife with the Nursing Council of Trinidad and Tobago.
• Post Basic Nursing qualification would be an asset.
• An Associate Degree or higher in Management/Supervisory Management.
• A minimum of eight (8) years Post Registration continuous nursing experience.
