JOB TITLE: Finance Manager

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer

Secondary Relationships & Supervises: Accountants and Stores Coordinator
Indirect Relationship & Supervisions: All other staff members of the Finance and Stores Departments
Job Summary
The Finance Manager is responsible for the provision of strategic financial leadership and management. The incumbent is expected to manage the financial health of the organization, advising on its fiscal policy, planning and decision making of the executive of VMCOTT. The Finance Manager oversees the overall administration of Accounting and Financial matters including the preparation of financial statements in accordance with International Reporting Financial Standards (IFRS), budgeting, cash flow management and supervision of staff.
The Finance Manager is a key position responsible for ensuring the generation of accurate financial information for effective decision making processes within the company. The role of Finance Manager will ensure that proper financial governance is observed throughout fiscal operations and that compliance with corporate policies, professional standards, industry best practice and all statutory/regulatory requirements are met.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
The role is primarily accountable for managing the financial assets of the organization and ensuring resources are available to enable efficient operations and project execution. The Finance Manager performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with the assigned functional areas including any combination of the following tasks:
To establish and execute programs for the provision of the capital required by the business, including negotiating the procurement of capital and maintaining the required financial arrangements.
To coordinate the financial plans of the company, assess the financial requirements implicit in these plans and develop alternative ways in which financial requirements can be satisfied.
To manage the cash-flow position of the company. This responsibility includes authority to establish credit and collections and purchasing policies and procedures and to establish schedules for the payment of bills and financial resources.
To review and finalize details of all agreements concerning financial obligations, such as contracts for products or services and other actions requiring a commitment of financial resources.
Responsible for the financial aspects of real estate transactions, and executes bids, contracts and leases and provides insurance as required.
To maintain relationships with financial institutions. Administer banking arrangements and loan agreements, receive, manage and disburse the company’s moneys and securities. Maintain adequate sources for the company’s current borrowings from commercial banks and other lending institutions. Invest company’s funds as directed to ensure the best returns of investment.
To maintain adequate knowledge of the market for the company’s securities in addition to maintaining adequate liaison with investment bankers, financial analysts and shareholders in conjunction with the CEO.
To provide advice on all financial matters in the formulation of overall corporate policies and objectives.
To analyze company shareholder/stakeholder relations policies and information programs including the annual and interim reports to shareholders/stakeholders and make recommendations for future financial plans and new or revised policies or programs when needed.
To implement accounting policies in order to adhere to best practice International Accounting Standards & International Financial Reporting Standards (IAS & IFRS); coordination of systems and procedures, and the preparation of operating data and special reports as required including interim and year-end financial statements. Maintains the company’s system of accounts and keeps books and records on all company transactions and assets.
In conjunction with the CEO and Board of Directors and the Audit and Finance Committee review and endorse budget proposals, discuss and advise on proposed and significant changes.
To develop, implement, manage, monitor and evaluate VMCOTT’s financials in accordance with the Company’s strategic vision and mission.
To work closely with the Management Team to develop and implement strategies and plans to achieve the Company’s goals and objectives.
Responsible for monitoring the Stores department to be knowledgeable of the cost of inventory and the financing of the investment of these assets and report on inventories to sales’ ratio.
To support and provide other managers and departments with information required by them to carry out their assigned responsibilities.
To perform other finance and administration duties as requested by the Chief Executive Office and in keeping with the State Enterprise Performance Monitoring Manual published by the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
Qualifications & Experience
CPA, CMA, CGA, ACCA accreditation and/or MBA/BSc in Accounting & Finance.
A minimum of ten (10) years’ progressive experience in Accounting at a senior management level.
Must possess proficiency in computer applications including financial management and accounting systems, Microsoft Word & Excel.
