CONTRACTUAL POSITION

JOB TITLE: DESIGN ENGINEER INFRASTRUCTURE
JOB SUMMARY:
The Land Settlement Agency (LSA) is responsible for the infrastructure development of state lands under its purview as part of Government’s mandate for the Agency. The Design Engineer is responsible for the design and preparation of infrastructure and construction drawings utilizing various modelling software. He/ she is required to prepare construction drawings and provide technical assistant to the project team, while ensuring that project plans conforms to industry standards.
REPORTS TO: ▪ Manager, Infrastructure Development Unit
SUPERVISION GIVEN TO: ▪ Supporting staff

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
▪ Interface directly with Contractors, Design and Construction Supervision Consultants
▪ Design and prepare the requisite drawings to aid in the construction of water reticulation, sewage collection and drainage systems, road-works and ancillary structures; including bridges, culverts, retaining walls etc.
▪ Interfaces with Regulatory Agencies for approval of designs
▪ Assists in the preparation of Bills of Quantities and other Tender Documents
▪ Lead, supervise and review the works of supporting staff

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
KNOWLEDGE: ▪ Knowledge of Project Management within multi-disciplinary Design Projects
▪ Knowledge of new technologies relating to infrastructure works
▪ Knowledge of Cad / Civil 3D applications
▪ Knowledge of Construction Law will be an asset
▪ Knowledge of Materials Technology

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: ▪ Excellent written and oral communication skills
▪ Ability to work within tight timelines and meet deadlines
▪ Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
▪ Skill in the use of Project Management Software
▪ Ability to design in a CAD environment
▪ Organization Skills

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
▪ Degree from an accredited institution in Civil Engineering and Registration with the Board of Engineering Trinidad and Tobago
▪ A minimum of three (3) years’ graduate experience in Infrastructure Design
Additional requirements
▪ Engineering experience in irregular existing developments will be considered a desirable asset
▪ Certification in AutoCAD Draughting will be considered a desirable asset
