Job Title: Financial Controller
Primary objective of the job:
The Financial Controller is a senior member of the Finance Department and will be responsible for providing leadership of the Company’s financial accounting and reporting, while ensuring the integrity of the Balance Sheet and oversight of the Treasury Function and local Payroll. The incumbent will also be expected to work closely with the Business Risk and FP&A functions and Various Teams at the Shared Service Centre (SSC), that is, General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivables, Cash and Bank, Intercompany, Fixed Assets, Payroll and Group Tax.
The Financial Controller is responsible for leading, motivating and developing the team and acting as a trusted partner to the business. This role also has responsibility for maintaining a strong control environment, managing all balance sheet risks and ensuring compliance with the Group’s accounting policies and procedures.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting
Ensure all Group and Market Financial Reporting deliverables are completed on a timely and accurate basis
Work with Group Finance on adoption and implementation of new IFRS’s
Month End Close: review all journals and postings done by SSC and local market teams for Revenue, Direct Costs, and Balance Sheet accounts.
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the Company’s accounting records and financial systems
Prepare annual audited financials in accordance with the relevant IFRS’s
TATT Reporting requirements
Financial Management & Controls
Oversee Fixed Assets accounting and cash capex reporting, and forecasting.
Oversee Accounts Receivables – manage all AR functions both SSC and in market, ensuring all invoices and receipts are correctly applied and collections of all non-subscriber receivables. Prepare aging analysis, provide all relevant explanations required and manage Provision for Bad Debt.
Oversee the Accounts Payable function
Responsibility for all GL balances including review of all month end balance sheet reconciliations for accuracy and completeness
Effectively manage working capital with specific attention to stock, debtors and cash
Manage external and internal audits and assist the CFO with respect to periodic reports to the Group’s Audit Committee explaining the processes adopted by management
Regularly review the effectiveness of internal controls
Risk Management
Play an active role in the risk assessment process and embedding a risk management culture throughout the organization
Oversee Insurance coverage, polices and claims in line with Group guidance
Taxation
Ensure returns for Corporation tax, VAT and other relevant taxes are submitted, payments are made on time, and all relevant regulations are complied with as directed by Group Tax.
Complete reporting requirements on behalf of Group Tax.
Support the CFO in the execution of the Group’s taxation strategy
Budgets and forecasts
Coordinate with the Head of FP&A in the preparation of budgets, and monthly forecasts and continued monitoring of performance against them to enable robust reporting of variances to Group and Executive Management Team
Staff
Effectively manage, motivate and develop the team
Supervise & review performance of individuals in the team
General
Liaise with different departments to ensure the Finance department is properly supporting the needs of the operating businesses
Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisers, bankers, insurance brokers and any other key stakeholders
Ensure the Team is kept informed of industry developments which are relevant to the operation of an efficient finance function

Academic Qualifications and Experience Required:
Professional accounting qualification
Significant qualified experience in all aspects of financial accounting and reporting +5 years in a similar position.
Very good knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Relevant industry experience
Functional Skills:
Strong accounting, finance systems and tax knowledge
Strong leadership and communication skills
Promoter of high ethical standards, customer focused, results driven and acts as a business partner
Strong analytical skills
Self-starter and pro-active problem solver
Have strong organizational skills, being able to manage multiple deliverables at once
Working conditions:
Predominantly 8am – 5pm; may be required to work outside the set work hours to meet deadlines where necessary
Expected to operate within an “open” concept office environment
