JOB TITLE: System Control & Generation Interface Manager
EMPLOYER: Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC)
The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission is seeking to recruit suitably qualified and competent nationals for the above position.
Job Summary / Key Responsibilities
Prepares Annual Departmental Estimates, monitors and controls the approved departmental budget.
Trains subordinate staff and monitors their performance to meet strategic objectives.
Ensures the application and implementation of safety regulations, in relation to the Operation and Maintenance of the Transmission and Sub-transmission Systems.
Analyses and submits monthly statistical reports on the performance of the transmission, generation and related systems and makes recommendations for the approval of the Reliability Committee.
Provides operational, informational and statistical reports as required by the RIC and external agencies as well as participates in studies related to Generation Planning.
Reviews machine trips as well as failure of interface equipment and prepares reports.
Monitors the maintenance programme of the Independent Power Producers (I.P.P.s) and Cove/Scarborough Power Stations, as well as all Transmission and Interface equipment on the Grid.
Monitors and reports on the operations of the Independent Power Producers (I.P.P.’s) and Cove/Scarborough Power Stations as well as suppliers of fuel to verify compliance with agreement in force, as well as accuracy of all invoices.
Ensures that all support equipment for remote operations in the Control rooms is fully operating to include: SCADA, Radio and Telephone Communications and Back-up Control Room.
Attends interface meetings, performs research on generation and energy conversion technologies and other related duties as required by the job function.
Performs other related duties as required by the job function.
Qualification
A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
Advanced or Post Graduate Degree in Engineering or Master’s in Business Administration preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
At least eight (8) years’ experience in a similar or related job function, five (5) of which should have been at Middle Management.
Extensive knowledge of Electrical Theory and Practice.
Well-developed knowledge of Project Management.
Effective Managerial, Negotiating, Analytical, Diagnostic, Communicative and Interpersonal Skills.
Creative and innovative abilities.
Proficiency in computer software programs.
Remuneration
Salary, terms and conditions of employment shall be in accordance with those determined by the Members of the Commission.
