Job Description
The Civil Engineering Technician I will provide support on construction and maintenance projects conducted in various communities in accordance with the industry’s specified guidelines and to meet client’s requirements.
Key and Critical Responsibilities
Assists with developing scope of works.
Provides clarification for contractors relating to the scope of works.
Coordinates the activities for obtaining work permits for projects by following up on requests and processing paper-work as directed by Area Project Supervisor.
Assists with on-site supervision of contractors, and advises Area Project Supervisor on issues, delays and situations affecting projects’ progress, including safety issues.
Prepares Work Plans on a weekly basis.
Accepts assignment to Special Projects as required.
Ensures compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Regulations.
Participates in development of Job Hazard Analyses.
Assists with the preparation of reports on contractors’ performance and project status for submission to Area Project Supervisor.
Assists with the development of Quality Control Checklists.
Conducts Quality Control Inspections.
Assists with the preparation of reports and close-out documentation.
Prepares a daily report for each job/project site visited.
Performs any other duties that may be required to successfully achieve this job function.

Key Competencies
Qualifications and Experience:

Diploma in Civil/Construction Engineering AND at least one (1) year relevant working experience, or an equivalent combination of skills and experience.
An unencumbered Driving permit.
30-hour Occupational Safety and Health in the Construction sector.
Knowledge:

Knowledge of AutoCAD software.
Knowledge of Health & Safety practices.
Knowledge of Industry Specifications and Standards.
Knowledge of MS Project, and MS Excel Software.
Knowledge of Project Management Principles.
