JOB TITLE: Probation Hostel Manager

Job Summary
The incumbent will be responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive care delivery plan, and its supporting programmes, policies and protocols aimed at ensuring the successful transfer, and securing the emotional and psychological well-being of children in the Residence. The incumbent is required to assess care placements with a view to making decisions in the best interest of the child.

Supervision Given To: Programme Supervisor, Assistant Manager, Social Services Counsellors, Social Services Officer, Hostel Caregivers, Office Secretary, Cook, Programme Assistants, Laundress, and Hospitality Attendant.
Duties and Responsibilities
Facility Leadership: Plans, organizes and directs all activities at the Community Residence for Adolescents.
Intake & Assessment: Oversees the assessment of children in conflict with the law as identified by the Court of Trinidad and Tobago.
Staff Supervision: Coordinates and supervises the activities of subordinates engaged in the day-to-day youth guidance routine and the development of their youth guidance skills.
Programme Development: Assists supervisors in the development of programmes designed to enhance the physical and social development of the children at the institution.
Disciplinary Interventions: Handles breach of discipline and institutes measures to curb negative behavior.
Case Record Upkeep: Maintains accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date case records for each child in accordance with established standards.
Policy Research: Conducts research and analyses of children’s needs in close collaboration with the Administrator to determine operational directions, goals, rules, and regulations.
Reporting & Governance: Compiles and prepares accurate and timely statistical and other reports. Acts as a legal guardian to the children and juveniles at the Community Residence.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Advanced planning, managerial, and organizing skills with the ability to coordinate a diverse group of subordinate staff.
High level of personal integrity to maintain high ethical standards in internal and external relations.
Marked display of tact, diplomacy, mature judgement, and creative problem-solving skills.
Sound working knowledge of the statutory laws relevant to the protection and safety of children.
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (both oral and written) paired with computer competence in Microsoft Office Suite.
Minimum Training and Experience
Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Psychology, Counselling, Management, or a related field from a recognised university. A post-graduate certification in Social Work serves as a strong asset.
Experience: A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the social services field, with at least five (5) years explicitly in social services administration or leadership.
