JOB DESCRIPTION
CONTRACTUAL POSITION
JOB TITLE: SENIOR FIELD INVESTIGATOR
JOB SUMMARY:
The Land Settlement Agency is responsible for ensuring the regularisation of squatters as part of its mandate. The Senior Field Investigator coordinates and manages activities with respect to the regularisation of squatter developments. The Senior Field Investigator is a supervisory position within the LSA, coordinates and manages activities with respect to the regularisation of squatter developments in support of the achievement of the Agency’s mandate.
REPORTS TO:
Manager, Tenure Regularisation Unit.
Interfaces with other Divisions / Units.
SUPERVISION GIVEN TO:
Field Investigator I, Field Investigator II, and other Junior Staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Represents the Agency in squatting communities.
Educates beneficiaries on all aspects of Squatter Regularisation.
Investigates reports on the more complicated complaints, queries, requests and concerns relative to Squatter Regularisation.
Coordinates and maintains an accurate weekly updates and monthly reports on all activities.
Assists in monitoring squatter sites and containment activities where necessary.
Interfaces with other LSA professional and no-professional LSA staff involved in squatter communities.
Coordinates field surveys to inform development activities.
Conduct interviews with applicants.
Supervises support staff.
Performs other related duties.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
KNOWLEDGE:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Basic Information Technology Awareness.
Map reading.
GIS knowledge and capacity.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Mediation Skills
Supervisory Kills
Good communication (oral and writing) skills
Team Player Abilities.
Reporting and Communicating Skills.
Social Work.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
First Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology or a related field.
Must possess a minimum of three (3) years experience in community development and social work (Post Graduate Qualification would be asset).
Good leadership and team player qualities.
Must possess arbitration and evaluation skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
