JOB TITLE: Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Officer

Job Summary
The Geographic Information Systems Officer is required to develop and maintain the Corporation’s GIS Databases and present the requested information in relevant report formats.

General Duties and Responsibilities
Develops and maintains the Corporation’s GIS database.
Operates the GIS Computer applications.
Maintains inventory and records of all maps and related electronic databases.
Collects and analyses spatial data for presentation in reports.
Applies statistical techniques and research methodology used in planning.
Presents research results effectively in oral, written and graphic form.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with consultants, work officials and the general public.
Collects, analyses and maintains socio-economic, demographic, land use and other related data.
Performs any other related activities.

Competencies

Knowledge
A thorough knowledge of the relevant GIS software and related applications.
A thorough knowledge of the relevant laws and policies regarding GIS and its related disciplines within Trinidad and Tobago.

Skills and Abilities
Excellent written and verbal skills.
Highly organised with the ability to create a unified team approach.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience
University Degree in a relevant discipline, such as Geographic Information Systems or Geoinformatics.
Experience in the field of Geographic Information Systems.
Any equivalent combination of working and educational experience will be considered.
