Job Description
The Assistant Accountant reports to the Accountant/ Finance Manager and is required to perform the activities relating to the management of the accounts, revenue and expenditure of the Company.
Key and Critical Responsibilities
Prepares monthly journals.
Prepares bi-monthly VAT returns.
Prepares quarterly Corporation tax, Business Levy and Green Fund payments.
Prepares bank reconciliations.
Prepares monthly management accounts.
Prepares annual audit schedules.
Prepares annual Financial Statements in accordance with IFRS.
Assists with the annual external audit.
Prepares quarterly reports to the Ministry of Finance.
Prepares Monthly Statement of Cash Flows to the Ministry of Finance.
Assists in recording of expenditure incurred on all residential and agricultural projects.
Maintains and reconciles all general ledger accounts.
Reconciles and maintains the integrity of the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Sub Ledgers.
Assists in the preparation of Annual Estimates/Budget of Expenditure.
Assists in the preparation of requests for release of funds from the Line Ministry.
Collates and prepares particulars of contributions to various funds.
Monitors and maintains the security of all documents within the Finance Department.
Daily monitoring of the sales proceeds from the EMBDs quarrying activities.
Verifies the balances of prepaid customers from the EMBDs quarrying activities.
Key Competencies
Qualifications: Minimum
Completed ACCA Advanced Diploma (Level 3 or above) or equivalent qualifications
Experience: Desired
Five (5) years experience in a similar position.
Experience in Public Sector/State Enterprise will be considered an asset.
Behavioural Competencies: Desired

Must be methodical and accurate.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Organisational awareness.
Technical Competencies: Desired
Proficiency in the use of SAGE, QuickBooks accounting and payroll software such as Micropay.
Proficiency in the Microsoft Excel and Word.
Knowledge of Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Property Act 2015, as amended.
Knowledge of internal control frameworks, risk assessment methodologies, and compliance requirements.
Knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and incentives.
Excellent numeracy skills.
