OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR, PORT OF GALEOTA

This position reports to the Manager, Ports and Terminals Operations and is responsible for supporting the Ports and Terminals Department’s commercial operations activities through the efficient administration, operation and supervision of the Port of Galeota, marine multi-user facilities.

Key Functions:

Ensures the Sustainable operations of the Port of Galeota are maintained as per existing sustainability policies and procedures.
Coordinates, and monitors daily, all vessel traffic movement in the Port of Galeota:Allocates arriving ships efficiently to available anchorage and berthing prospects
Schedules all berthing/unberthing in collaboration with various marine users
Verifies all operations activities, including use of Port and Marine Terminal infrastructure and equipment in accordance with specifications/directions.
Inspects and monitors port, marine, marshalling yard and staging area operations and coordinates with maintenance departments regarding facilities and equipment availability, to ensure compliance and minimal disruption to approved operations in accordance with procedures, guidelines, codes and regulations.
Prepares reports on marine operations, including vessel movements, berth occupancy, marine services rendered and marshalling yard operations.
Prepares and submits vessel weekly master schedules in accordance with SOP for Port Operations.
Monitors and evaluates all users to ensure compliance with Port of Galeota Rules and Safety Regulations as well as the various international statutory bodies’ regulations e.g. OSHA, IMO and LLOYDS.
Coordinates all berthing activities and ensures that all ships berthing at the Port of Galeota conform to the ISPS Code and Standards.
Ensures that expression of interest details, documents and related information are received and filed for future references.
Reviews Berthing Sales SAP orders for accuracy to facilitate release on system for action.
Communicates with the designated authority with regards to all security matters at the Galeota Port facilities.
The minimum requirements for the position are:

A First Degree or its equivalent in Maritime Operations, Supply Chain Logistics and/or Terminal/ Port Operations and a Certificate in Port and Marine Operations Supervision.
Post Graduate qualifications in a related field of operations would be an asset.
A minimum of six (6) years’ experience in the Port and Marine operations.
Knowledge/Skills/Attributes:

Port and Marine Operations including but not limited to Cargo operations, Shipping operations,
Stevedoring plant and machinery operations.
Maritime Statutory and Regulatory operations framework including IMO, ISPS, MARPOL etc.
Excellent communication skills.
Good Interpersonal skills and Supervisory skills
