Cyber Security Engineer

General Accountability

The Cyber Security Engineer is responsible for the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of the Corporation’s cyber defence capabilities. The role focuses on operational security engineering, threat detection, vulnerability management and incident response enablement. The position ensures that ICT platforms, networks and digital services remain resilient against cyber threats while aligning with internal controls, regulatory requirements and enterprise risk frameworks. This role is delivery focused within security operations and does not overlap with enterprise architecture governance, innovation strategy or application development functions.

Key Responsibilities

Security Monitoring & Threat Detection

Implement and manage security monitoring tools including Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), endpoint protection and threat intelligence platforms to detect suspicious activity.

Vulnerability Management & Hardening

Conduct vulnerability assessments, patch coordination and system hardening activities across ICT infrastructure and digital platforms.

Incident Response & Cyber Defence Operations

Support cyber incident investigations, containment actions and recovery procedures in collaboration with ICT operations and risk teams.

Access Control & Security Configuration

Implement secure configuration standards, identity and access controls, and privileged access monitoring across systems.

Security Tool Implementation & Maintenance

Deploy and maintain firewalls, intrusion detection systems, endpoint security tools and cloud security controls.

Security Awareness & Technical Advisory

Provide technical guidance to ICT teams on secure configurations, secure coding practices and operational risk mitigation.

Continuous Improvement & Threat Intelligence

Monitor emerging cyber threats and recommend improvements to defensive controls and monitoring strategies.

The selected candidate must possess the following combination of qualifications, skills, training, and experience:

A First Degree in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited institution.
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a similar position within the financial industry and
Three (3) years’ supervisory experience
Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, CISSP (Associate), CISM, or equivalent cyber security credentials will be an asset.
OR

A Diploma in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Science from an accredited institution.
Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, CISSP (Associate), CISM, or equivalent cyber security credentials will be an asset.
Minimum of six (6) years’ experience in a similar position within the financial industry and
Four (4) years’ supervisory experience
