PSYCHOLOGIST I
Job Summary
The incumbent is required to collate, interpret and apply scientific data relating to human behavior and mental processes.
Key Functions
• Conducts psychological evaluation using specialized tests for assessing intelligence, social functioning, personality disorders, organic brain damage, substance abuse, general psychopathology found in a mental facility/hospital.
• Prepares psychological therapeutic interventions and treatments from an array of psychological therapies e.g. cognitive-behavioural, insight-oriented, existential, family, couple and individual psychotherapy, crisis intervention/management, behaviour modification) in the care of acute and chronic mental health problems.
• Researches problems in mental health for publication and education of all mental health professionals.
• Engages in public education, research and development studies for improvement in health care.
Minimum Requirements and Experience
• Master’s Degree in Clinical/Counselling Psychology.
• Evidence of successful completion of supervised practicum by a qualified Psychologist for a one (1) year period.
• At least three (3) years’ experience in a similar or related job function.
