Job Description
The Assistant Registrar supports the Registrar in carrying out the administrative duties involved in organizing the business of the Board of Governors and ensuring that Board decisions are executed; and coordinates policy administration and development at NIHERST.
Key and Critical Responsibilities
1. Coordinates efforts pertaining to the development, approval, implementation and assessment of policies and procedures to improve operations of the organization.
2. Ensures compliance with all relevant rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the Institute and the Laws of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
3. Schedules and organizes meetings of the Board of Governors as required.
4. Records and drafts minutes of Board of Governors/Board Committee meetings as required.
5. Prepares/drafts management and administrative reports and other similar documents
6. Ensures proper maintenance of filing and information management systems to meet administrative, legal, and financial requirements
7. Liaises with relevant administrative, technical and professional staff and representatives of staff.
8. Liaises with personnel of other institutions and agencies as required to obtain information and ensure provision of complementary services.
9. Prepares and manages the budgets for the Office of the Registrar.
10. Supervises junior staff as required.
11. Performs related work as may be required.

Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative.
Skill in budget preparation and simple accounting.
Ability to prepare Board notes, minutes of meetings, comprehensive reports, and other similar documents as required
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, other employees and stakeholders
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of software
