JOB SUMMARY
Oversee the engineering division, which is essential in a hospital setting to manage critical infrastructure management, ensure regulatory compliance, budget, enhance emergency preparedness, and promote energy efficiency and sustainability.
KEY FUNCTIONS
• Oversees the maintenance, operation, and repair of all building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, medical gas, and safety systems. In addition to Axillary medical equipment inclusive of stretchers, patient beds, surgical lights etc.
•Develops project timelines, allocate resources, and ensure completion within budget and regulatory compliance.
• Ensures compliance with healthcare regulations, safety standards, and building codes, including Joint Commission and local regulatory bodies.
• Delegates tasks, set team goals, and manage work schedules for engineering staff.
• Ensures proper installation, operation, and preventive maintenance of medical equipment in collaboration with the Biomedical Engineering department.
• Conducts regular assessments of hospital infrastructure and provide recommendations for upgrades or improvements.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field).
• Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in healthcare facility engineering or MEP engineering field, with at least five (5) years in a supervisory or management role.
• Registration with the Board of Engineering of Trinidad & Tobago (BOETT) as a Registered Engineer or a Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent certification is preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of engineering codes, regulations, and safety standards (e.g., Joint Commission, ANSI, ASHRAE, ASME, ASTM B31, ASME PCC-1, TTS/ICC/ANSI A117.1, NFPA, OSHA).
Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of qualifications, training and experience.
