ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN I (SHIFT)
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for advanced maintenance, repair, and operation of the hospital’s electrical systems, ensuring the reliability and safety of all electrical infrastructure.
KEY FUNCTIONS
• Performs complex maintenance tasks on electrical systems, including high-voltage distribution systems, emergency generators, and critical power supplies.
• Repairs or replace defective components, ensuring that work complies with national electrical codes (NEC) and hospital safety standards.
• Monitors performance and capacity of emergency systems, ensuring they are capable of supporting critical hospital functions.
•Assists in developing training programs for new hires and ongoing professional development for electrical staff.
• Works with the facilities management team to implement and track energy-saving initiatives in line with hospital sustainability goals.
• Prepares and submits shift reports to supervisors, detailing completed work, issues encountered, and plans for ongoing maintenance.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE
• Five (5)CXC/GCE or SEC inclusive of Mathematics and English and a Technical Certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, EEET or a related field is required.
• Minimum of three (3) – five (5) years of experience in electrical maintenance, repair, and installation, preferably in a healthcare or large commercial facility.
• Journeyman’s Certification or equivalent will be an asset.
•In-depth knowledge of electrical codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA, and OSHA regulations.
Consideration maybe given to an equivalent combination of qualifications, training and experience.
