Job Description
The Land Surveying Graduate Trainee reports to the Land Surveyor and is responsible for conducting surveys of land at various sites to determine the precise location and measurements of areas, points, elevations, lines and contours for titles, land development, construction, mapmaking or other purposes under the supervision of a Trinidad and Tobago Land Surveyor.
Key and Critical Responsibilities
Performs field surveys to obtain data for base plans.
Performs construction stake-out.
Supervision of Chainmen.
Maintains and stores drawing files for active projects.
Extensive field work under the supervision of a Trinidad and Tobago Land Surveyor.
Preparation of time sheets and technical reports.
Reviews all drawings and other contract documents.
Expected to acquire a thorough understanding of all drawings and contracts with a view to implementation.
Key Competencies
Qualifications: Minimum
Bachelors Degree in Land Surveying or Geomatics.
Experience: Desired
Experience in the effective practices, methods, techniques and equipment used in Land Surveying will be an asset.
Behavioural Competencies: Desired
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Sound aptitude in problem-solving.
Ability to work both in the field and within an office environment.
Ability to work in all weather conditions, and stand or walk for long periods.
Ability to carry up to 60 pounds of surveying equipment over rough and steep terrain.
Ability to travel to client sites to conduct surveys, attend team meetings, and consult with clients.
Ability to analyze data and interpret survey results.
Technical Competencies: Desired
Knowledge of the organizations services, policies and procedures.
Proficiency in operating Trimble GPS/ RTK equipment.
Proficiency in Total Station Operation and Automated Data Collection.
Proficiency in AutoCAD & Trimble Business Office Software.
Understanding of land survey techniques, terminology and how to interpret survey maps or plans.
Understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and codes related to land surveying, property boundaries, and cadastral mapping.
