HVAC TECHNICIAN II (SHIFT)
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of complex heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems at a healthcare facility.
KEY FUNCTIONS
• Independently operate and maintain complex HVAC systems, including air handling units, chillers, boilers, exhaust systems, and controls.
• Responds to emergency maintenance requests during shifts, particularly in critical care areas where environmental conditions are crucial to patient safety.
• Documents all preventive maintenance activities in the hospital’s computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and ensure tasks are completed on time.
• Follows safety protocols when working with electrical components, refrigerants, and hazardous materials, using personal protective equipment as required.
•Assists in the installation, testing, and commissioning of new HVAC systems and upgrades, ensuring they meet hospital standards and manufacturer specifications.
• Collaborates with senior staff and facility management to implement temporary solutions while awaiting full system repairs.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE
• University Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field of study.
• Candidates must be registered or eligible for registration by the Board of Engineering of Trinidad and Tobago.
• Certification in Supervisory Management.
• At least four (4) years post-qualification experience in a similar or related job function.
Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of qualifications, training and experience.
