Job Description
The QMED/Engine Rating assists with the monitoring, upkeep and maintenance of the engine room space and equipment. The candidate safely maintains all vessel systems to specifications determined by manufacturers and performs all functions outlined in the preventative maintenance system under the supervision of the Chief Engineer
Key and Critical Responsibilities
Maintains the operation of the vessel systems within the requisite legal requirements
Maintains a safe and clean engine room and mechanical spaces, ensuring that equipment is kept free of dust, corrosion, leaks and other defects
Participates in the safe operation of the vessel as required by the IMO and Maritime Services Division of Trinidad and Tobago.
Participates in drills with marine and non-maritime crew as directed by the Master and Chief Engineer.
Assists shore technicians as needed.
Makes emergency repairs when needed.
Performs daily/weekly and monthly preventative maintenance as per maintenance schedule as instructed by Chief Engineer or his designate.
Performs all other duties and responsibilities normally expected of a vessels QMED/Engine Rating.
