JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Internal Auditor
EMPLOYER: Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC)
Job Function
Plans audits and manages the organisation of teams, development of audit objectives, logistics, schedules and scope for engagements.
Reviews audit programmes of work, staff requirements and allotted time.
Liaises with Heads of Departments.
Conducts special investigations and reviews operations.
Reviews reports submitted by subordinates.
Drafts reports to auditees, to provide managers with assessments of the operations under their charge and recommendations for improvement.
Discusses audit findings and reports with Area Managers, other Heads of Departments and senior personnel.
Monitors the implementation of approved audit recommendations and follows up on corrective action taken by departments.
Evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, risk management processes and governance practices.
Prepares working papers and maintains audit documentation to support findings, conclusions and recommendations.
Performs requisite administrative duties inclusive of training subordinate staff.
Performs other related duties as required by the job function.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
At least six (6) years’ experience at Managerial level in the Auditing/Accounting function.
Well-developed knowledge of Financial Accounting and Auditing.
Well-developed Investigative and Communicative skills.
Sound knowledge of computer-assisted Auditing techniques, Internal Auditing and Accounting standards, investigative Risk Management, Corporate Governance and Internal Control Systems.
Effective Managerial, Analytical, and Interpersonal Skills.
Education & Training
Professional Accounting qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, CMA, or CA qualifications and eligibility for membership in the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Trinidad and Tobago (ICATT).
Possession of Auditing qualifications (CISA, CFE, CIA, etc.) would be an asset.
Remuneration
Salary, terms and conditions of employment shall be in accordance with those determined by the Members of the Commission.
