The Eco-Industrial Development Company of Tobago (E-IDCOT) Ltd is a private limited liability company established by the Tobago House of Assembly (THA). E-IDCOT assists in diversifying Tobago’s economy through the promotion of environmentally sustainable production and the provision of project management services across the island.
🎯 Position Overview
The Human Resources Officer supports the Human Resource Administrator in formulating and implementing Human Resource Management strategies, policies, and procedures.
The role involves coordinating change management, hiring and onboarding processes, and providing continuous support to employees regarding personal and professional incidents—thereby contributing directly to E-IDCOT’s overall strategic objectives.
📋 Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Recruitment, Onboarding & Staffing
Recruitment Execution: Prepare job advertisements, review résumés, schedule interviews, compile interview packages, conduct reference checks, and administer skills tests.
Job Descriptions: Assist in developing, continuously reviewing, and updating job descriptions and specifications for organizational relevance.
Staffing Proposals: Assist in developing recruitment plans, staffing reports, and policy improvement proposals.
2. Policy Implementation & Employee Relations
Policy Compliance: Review HR strategies, policies, and systems regularly to propose updates ensuring full compliance with current labor laws and regulations.
Working Environment: Nurture a positive workplace culture and address employee grievances through established procedures.
Conflict Resolution: Support the HR Administrator in managing employee relations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions.
Organizational Change: Support restructuring objectives arising from E-IDCOT’s Strategic Plan or Board decisions.
3. Payroll, Benefits & Leave Administration
Payroll Processing: Compute employee payroll, calculate benefits and deductions, and liaise with the Finance and Investments Department for final processing.
Payroll Queries: Timely resolve payroll-related inquiries and provide accurate feedback to staff.
Benefits Administration: Assist in administering the Company’s Life & Health Insurance policies for all employees.
Documentation & Leave: Process leave applications, draft employment contracts, issue job letters, and prepare routine HR documentation.
4. Training & Performance Management
Performance Systems: Assist in administering the Performance Management System and monitoring its overall efficacy.
Training & Development: Conduct training needs assessments, liaise with external training providers, coordinate registration/participation, and track post-training evaluation reports.
5. Personnel Records & General Administration
Records Management: Maintain accurate, secure, and confidential hard-copy and electronic central filing systems for assigned personnel in line with document management policies.
Reporting: Prepare written reports or official responses to routine HR inquiries.
Corporate Compliance: Fully comply with Company policies, Core Values, and Code of Business Conduct; perform other duties as required by the job function.
🎓 Qualifications & Experience
Core Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management.
HR Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience in human resource management.
Payroll Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of hands-on experience in payroll processing (mandatory).
Key Assets (Preferred)
Certificate in Industrial Relations / Labour Laws from a reputable institution.
Note: Any other suitable combination of qualifications and experience will be considered.
💡 Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
HR & Legal Knowledge: Working knowledge of HR policies, industrial relations laws, best practices, and HRIS databases.
Technical Proficiency: Proven experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Interpersonal & Communication: Excellent active listening, negotiation, presentation, and conflict-resolution skills.
People & Results-Focused: People-oriented, results-driven, with the demonstrated ability to manage relationships at all organizational levels.
Adaptability & Resilience: Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule and perform effectively under pressure.
