LEAD HVAC TECHNICIAN (SHIFT)
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and repair of the hospital’s heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems during assigned shifts.
KEY FUNCTIONS
• Leads and supervises a team of HVAC Technicians during shifts, providing guidance, training, and assigning tasks based on priority.
• Performs routine inspections to ensure HVAC systems are functioning optimally, identifying any potential issues before they affect hospital operations.
• Ensures the completion of all emergency repairs in critical areas such as operating rooms, ICUs, and laboratories, where temperature control is vital.
• Reviews and updates maintenance protocols based on manufacturer guidelines, system performance data, and hospital-specific requirements.
• Prepares detailed shift reports for senior management, outlining any significant system issues, completed repairs, and upcoming maintenance tasks.
• Participates in hospital emergency drills and ensure that the HVAC team is prepared for emergency situations, including power outages and system failures.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE
•Five (5)CXC/GCE or SEC inclusive of Mathematics and English and a Technical Certification in
Mechanical Engineering, HVAC, or a related field is required
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in HVAC maintenance and repair, preferably in a healthcare or large commercial facility.
• Journeyman’s Certification or equivalent is preferred
• Proven leadership experience, with a track record of managing and supervising a team of mechanical technicians.
• Extensive knowledge of HVAC systems, including chillers, air handlers, boilers, and building automation controls.
• Familiarity with healthcare facility regulations and standards, including ASHRAE, NFPA, and OSHA.
• Proficiency in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for work order management and reporting.
Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of qualifications, training and experience.
