MECHANICAL SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN II (SHIFT)
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of the hospital’s mechanical systems during assigned shifts.
KEY FUNCTIONS
• Monitors the performance of mechanical systems to ensure they are operating efficiently and address any issues promptly.
• Responds to emergency calls related to mechanical system failures during the shift, ensuring timely resolution with minimal disruption to hospital operations.
• Ensures maintenance records are accurate and up to date, documenting all work performed, including inspections, repairs, and adjustments.
• Follows safety protocols when working in patient care areas, particularly when handling medical gas systems or equipment that affects the clinical environment.
• Works closely with other maintenance staff, including electrical technicians and facilities management, to ensure the seamless operation of all building systems.
• Be prepared to respond to mechanical system emergencies during shifts, including power outages, HVAC failures, and plumbing issues.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE
• Five (5) CC/GE or CAPE inclusive of Mathematics and English and Associate’s degree or technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, HVAC, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in mechanical system maintenance, with healthcare or industrial experience preferred.
• Journeyman’s Certification or equivalent is preferred
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, boilers, plumbing, and medical gas systems.
• Familiarity with healthcare regulations and safety standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, etc.).
• Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of qualifications, training and experience.
